Our approach: free official material first, then a small number of widely used books. Always start with the official syllabus for your subject on our Syllabus page.

Commonly used Paper 1 books

One main book plus past papers is usually enough. Buying many books often means less revision. Get the latest edition, because syllabus changes and newer questions are added over time.

How to choose a teacher or YouTube channel

  • Watch a full lecture first. Check whether concepts are explained or just read out as facts.
  • Check syllabus mapping. A good teacher covers every unit of the current official syllabus, not just favourite topics.
  • Check the answers. Compare a few solved past-paper answers with NTA's final answer key.
  • Avoid "guaranteed" and "leaked" claims. No one can guarantee a cutoff or know the questions in advance.

How to choose coaching classes (online or in Delhi)

  • Ask for a written syllabus plan, the batch size and the number of full-length mock tests.
  • Ask for a free demo class and talk to current students, not just toppers in adverts.
  • Treat result claims with care: ask for the roll numbers or names that can be checked against the published result.
  • Read the refund policy before you pay. Avoid paying for the full year up front.
  • Make sure there's time to solve doubts and give feedback on mock tests. Recorded videos alone are like self-study.

Frequently asked questions

Are these paid or affiliate recommendations?

No. We don't get any money, commission or free copies from any publisher, teacher or coaching institute. There are no affiliate links on this page.

Do I need coaching to clear UGC NET?

No. Many candidates prepare on their own using the official syllabus, free university material and past papers. Coaching helps some students with discipline and doubt-solving.

Why don't you name specific teachers or coaching centres?

We can't check every teacher's or centre's quality or results claims on our own, so we give a checklist to help you judge them yourself instead.
